GEORGETOWN, September 18, 2026. Demerara Bank customers are being invited to get hands-on help with a new mobile banking service this weekend. In a bank release carried by News Room Guyana on September 16, the institution announced an official September 19 launch for its mobile app and upgraded online banking platform.

The bank says customers can visit its Beterverwagting location between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. on launch day for registration assistance and demonstrations.

The announced features include checking balances and statements, moving money between accounts and to other local banks, paying bills and setting up recurring transactions. Customers will also be able to submit wire-transfer requests and follow their progress.

The bank’s official mobile-app information page confirms that existing customers still need to register for the service. It lists Android and iOS availability, biometric login on compatible devices and one-time-password checks for specified sensitive actions.

Why this matters beyond launch day

ADSGY perspective: The practical appeal is time. Being able to check whether money has arrived or arrange a routine payment between other tasks could reduce the need to organise a day around a branch visit. The value for each customer will depend on which accounts and services are eligible, applicable fees and reliable access.

The release says further demonstrations are planned at other branches. Customers who cannot attend Saturday’s event can consult guidance on the bank’s website. For downloads and registration information, start with the official bank page linked above.
